Delrin® Round Corner Roller (for RTM)

The R&G Delrin® consolidation roller features a narrow 15 mm roller and is specifically designed for areas that are difficult to reach with wider laminating rollers. Typical applications include internal radii, corners, edges and narrow mould sections.

During hand laminating, fabrics, non-crimp fabrics and other fibre reinforcements can be pressed into the mould in a controlled manner. This helps the reinforcement conform closely to the mould contour while allowing trapped air to be worked out of the wet laminate.

In RTM applications, the roller is particularly suitable for positioning and pressing dry fibre reinforcements into place before the mould is closed. Good conformity of the reinforcement to the mould contour is especially important in radii and corners in order to maintain the intended laminate thickness and avoid wrinkles or voids.

The roller is made from Delrin® (POM/polyacetal). This material has a hard, wear-resistant surface with good release properties. Resin adheres only slightly, and cured residues can generally be removed mechanically with little effort.

Practical tip:
Do not force the reinforcement into tight internal radii using excessive pressure. It is better to first lay the reinforcement into the contour without tension and then roll it several times using even pressure. This helps reduce the risk of wrinkles, fibre distortion and local resin accumulation in the radius.
