Delrin® Finned Roller (cross grooves)
Delrin® deaeration roller with deep, parallel transverse grooves.
For compacting and deaerating fibre-reinforced wet laminates. The pronounced groove profile helps work trapped air out of the laminate and supports uniform impregnation of the reinforcement.
The R&G Delrin® deaeration roller with transverse grooves is a proven laminating tool for compacting and deaerating glass, carbon and aramid reinforcements in wet lay-up applications.
The deep transverse grooves running parallel to the roller axis transfer pressure directly and evenly to the laminate. As the roller passes over the surface, trapped air bubbles are mobilised and can be worked out of the still-wet fibre/resin structure. At the same time, excess resin is redistributed and the reinforcement is pressed evenly against the mould surface.
Unlike spiral or thread-profiled rollers, this roller has no continuous helical groove pattern. This allows uniform processing across the full roller width without creating a tendency for the tool to track sideways during use.
The roller is made from Delrin® (POM/polyacetal). This hard, wear-resistant material offers good release properties and is therefore particularly well suited for laminating tools. Resin adhesion is relatively low, and cured residues can generally be removed mechanically with little effort.

Which size is best?
Narrow rollers with a small diameter are particularly suitable for smaller components, tighter contours and areas with limited access. Larger roller diameters run more smoothly over the laminate, while the 140 mm version allows efficient processing of larger, predominantly flat surfaces.
